Torpedo Kutaisi are delighted to announce that the club will be guided by a German coaching team on a three-year term starting from the new season.
Dirk Schuster, named Germany’s Coach of the Year in 2016, is renowned for achieving significant success with clubs operating on modest budgets. He led Darmstadt from the third tier to the Bundesliga, securing top-flight survival in consecutive seasons. Schuster has also enjoyed successful stints with Augsburg, Erzgebirge Aue, and most recently with Kaiserslautern (2022–2024), whom he promoted to the 2. Bundesliga and guided to top-ten finishes in successive seasons.
In his first comments, Schuster highlighted the trust established between himself and the club’s management from their very first meeting, noting that the scale of the project and the club’s international ambitions played a decisive role in his decision to join Torpedo. He will be assisted by Sasha Frantz, with whom he has enjoyed a 12-year professional partnership.
Under the leadership of the German coaching duo, Torpedo Kutaisi are preparing for the new season in Marbella.
